2012 -- The Year We Have Been Waiting For

It’s an exciting time to be alive! We are about to remember what we really are and why we really came here. We are about to experience a tangible shift in global consciousness.
The global shift in consciousness has been gradually unfolding for some time. But in 2012, it will accelerate at an astonishing pace. We chose to be here and to awaken spiritually at this time in Earth’s history in order to experience the shift first hand. We have been waiting a long time for it.
As most of us know, 2012 marks the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. According to the Mayas, a 5,126-year astronomic cycle ends on December 21, 2012. But contrary to Hollywood and popular misconception, the world is not going to end in 2012 -- just the Mayan calendar, much as our own calendar ends every year on December 31st.
Here are some things I believe will not happen in 2012. Earth will not be struck by a giant asteroid, causing a life extinction event. Solar storms will not turn Earth into toast. A polar shift will not flip Earth on its side. Aliens will not invade Earth. A biblical rapture and Armageddon will not occur. My apologies to Hollywood and religious fanatics everywhere! -- there will be no global cataclysm in 2012.
Sadly for most people, nothing will seem change in 2012. That's because most people are just not ready to awaken spiritually at this time. For them, this physical world is the only "reality" that exists. So they will not experience the global shift in consciousness. Instead, they will continue to lead lives based on fear, ignorance, and greed, as they have always done. They will continue to experience the same stress, confusion, pessimism, and panic they always have.
However, the Mayas, Hopis, Hindus, Tibetans, and many others have foretold of a great transformation to occur at this time. We are to undergo a transition from one World Age to another. We who are ready will experience the global shift in consciousness.
What does this shift mean? Well, until now, we have been living unfulfilled lives based on economic slavery, pain, and suffering. But the shift has been building up for some time. You may have noticed, for example, how time itself seems to be speeding up. This speed-up in time is occurring because we are vibrating at an ever-increasing rate, in preparation for the ascension to a higher dimension. As our vibration continues to accelerate, we will at some point be able to ascend from the lower, denser vibrations of the third-dimensional physical world where we currently find ourselves to the higher vibrations of the 4th or even 5th dimension. The shift now underway will help many to awaken from the matrix, or illusion, which has convinced us that this physical world is real. As individuals, we will be able to experience an evolutionary leap in 2012, if we are ready and choose to do so.
We could even achieve the critical mass needed to awaken all of humanity spiritually and propel us collectively into a higher dimension. No one needs to be “left behind in the rapture.” The entire planet and all of its inhabitants could experience the transformation. It could happen as a gradual process or as a dramatic event. But when it does happen, we will no longer want to live and do business based on our old material ways. Nor will we need to. Instead, our lives will be filled with love and spiritual purpose, harmony, kindness, and gratitude.
Perhaps like me as a child in church, you too were terrorized by tales of an impending apocalypse, second coming, rapture, Armageddon, tribulation, and end times. I vividly remember how the fire-and-brimstone evangelists would rant and rave about two laborers working in the field, when suddenly one would be "taken" and the other "left behind." I remember how livid their faces would become as they pronounced almighty condemnation on the congregation -- night after night and twice on Sundays during frequent revivals -- for such flagrant sins as going to movies, playing cards, dancing, and thinking about sex. We were guilty sinners -- that was certain. At any moment, God and his minions could cast us into the lake of eternal fire -- unless we came forward, knelt at the altar, and pleaded with Jesus Christ to "save" us.

Fortunately, I now know that terms like apocalypse actually mean a “lifting of the veil” or a “revealing” of something that was previously hidden from us in a world controlled through fear and obedience. I now know that these terms refer to a time when we will finally remember what we really are and why we came here. I now know that these terms point to a joyous event or process, a glorious time of transformation.
So, to me, 2012 symbolizes the beginning of a new world. It represents the dawning of a new era of Love and Light on Earth. It portends a global spiritual awakening from the dream we always thought was real.

It really is a wonderful time to be alive, isn't it?!

  2. Interesting article Roy. I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for literally my entire life (it's basically a genetic condition) and I was personally hoping for the world to end in 2012...haha. But yeah, I don't think there is anything wrong with not being spiritual or having gratitude. Everyone is different, just because you are spiritual and grateful doesn't mean much - especially if you don't really enjoy your life. But I digress, interesting new age thoughts.

    1. I have also been dealing with depression and anxiety for much of my life. Sometimes I find, as ironic as it sounds, the anxiety over having anxiety can often times be worse than the initial anxiety....wow that sounds strange and I am the one who wrote it, I can only imagine how crazy it must sound to anyone who reads it! ha! Anyhow, I have found some relief, or am on a path leading to more relief, via spirituality. i do not mean that I am a person who preaches the Bible to everyone I meet or am out warning people of the second coming etc.. (no disrespect to those who do this)...I have somewhat of a blending of general spirituality and religious spirituality. I really have found some peace and comfort from knowing "this is not it." As you stated, I do not enjoy my life much either. I think I am wasting much of my life being depressed and trying to avoid anxiety. I have done, and am still doing, the therapy route however I do not find much help. I've done my bout with drugs (percocet/oxycontin) to try to find happiness....I am over 7 years clean from that stunt which really did a number on me...but in the end found no relief there either. Reading and learning about spirituality, the "other side," Jesus, ghosts, near death experiences, etc. has given me the most relief thus far and I hope it continues to do so in greater ways. I agree, as you stated, we are all different, and maybe this sort of thing will not help you as it helps me but then again maybe it will. If not I hope you do find something that will give you some form of peace. I know first hand how horrible anxiety and depression are. If you ever want to chat respond here and I will give you my email address. Maybe we can be a source of peace to each other in some strange way :) Then again you may never come back to this website and wont even see this. Whatever you choose, whatever happens, I wish you the best and hope you can find some way to bring happiness and peace to your life.

  3. "2012--The Year We Have Been Waiting For" was very good. It was a positive message and I do admire your passion for the world's transformation. I especially was moved by your last line:"It really is a wonderful time to be alive, isn't it!" That really spoke to me.
